Are you spending more time staring at a blank page than actually writing the articles for your search engine marketing campaign? You’re not a writer, but someone how you’re supposed to come up with content to grab the attention of your buyers and the search engines? Not a big deal, except your entire business depends on being seen on the first page for your buyer’s search phrases.
Relax – here are a few tips to get you over the writer’s block and launching your campaign like an expert.
Bullet points rule
Anyone can write a bullet point article. Pick a topic related to what you sell and start by writing 5 bullet points. It might be 5 things to look for in something your buyers are buying from you or 5 reasons they should be buying this product or service or 5 steps they need to take to accomplish something. Then expand to one paragraph on each point. Kick it off with a 2-sentence introduction and wrap it up with a 2-sentence conclusion and you are on your way.
Interview yourself
What are the most frequent questions people ask you when making a buying decision. Ask and answer them in your article. Or choose 5 questions you wish a news reporter would ask you about your business. Ask and answer those and then send it out to your email list as some great press your business has received.
Solve your buyers problems
Write PFB Problem Feature Benefit articles. Begin with the problem clients are having then explain how your features or service solve the problem and end with the benefits. Write Anecdotal articles. Write about a real customer experience using the PFB formula. Exclude names unless you get written permission.
Get creative
Look for Ideas in Obvious places. Look on your on your website and brochures sales presentation. Search for articles on Google for your key words. Ask other staff members and have brainstorming meeting. Ask your clients what they want to learn more about. Ask your clients what is their buying criterion. These last two can be done in a survey to your database and will give you great information to use in all of your marketing vehicles.
